Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact Hits Netcode Snags

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 19,2026

The legendary Hunter x Hunter franchise has recently launched its latest video game adaptation - Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact. Despite boasting a cherished IP and being developed by a respected fighting game studio, the launch hasn't been without controversy.

A Bumpy Launch for Promising Fighter

In the days following its July 16 release, Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact has faced significant criticism within the fighting game community. While its chaotic, high-powered gameplay appeals to many enthusiasts, technical issues - particularly concerning netcode - have dampened early enthusiasm.

The tag-team fighter currently holds a "Mixed" rating on Steam with approximately 140 reviews at time of writing. Though positive reviews outnumber negative ones roughly 2:1, even favorable critiques frequently mention netcode problems alongside complaints about limited single-player content.

"I can't help but love this game - it's my favorite fighting game ever," writes one passionate Steam reviewer. "No other fighter matches its freedom of expression, explosive combat, and sheer visual spectacle."

Community Backlash Over Online Play

The fighting game community has echoed these concerns, with prominent players expressing frustration:

Untapped Potential

This technical turmoil is particularly disappointing given Nen x Impact's strong foundations. The Hunter x Hunter universe offers a perfect fighting game roster with diverse Nen abilities creating varied playstyles. Seeing fan-favorites like Biscuit Krueger and Hisoka clash in battle demonstrates the game's potential.

Developer Eighting brings impressive pedigree, having worked on Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. Their expertise shines through in Nen x Impact's combo-heavy combat, though frustratingly obscured by connection issues.

Race Against Time

The developers acknowledge these problems, citing both rollback frame issues and match termination errors in a July 16 statement. While promising fixes and recommending stable connections, they face increasing competition.

With major titles like Riot's 2XKO and Arc System Works' Marvel Tokon on the horizon, Eighting must act swiftly. For Marvel vs. Capcom fans and Hunter x Hunter enthusiasts alike, hopes remain high - but patience may wear thin if improvements don't arrive soon.
