Ingenious Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players Are Using Deadly Bouncing Blades to Kill Hapless Campers From Outside the Map

In the competitive realm of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer, the thrill of securing final kills is a celebrated achievement, with countless clips shared across the internet. Yet, few are as spectacular as the one executed by player kev99gh.

The Ricochet Blades, a distinctive ammunition type for the D1.3 Sector secondary weapon, were introduced during the contentious Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles event. These blades quickly became a hot topic due to their unpredictable bouncing paths across multiple surfaces.

Kev99gh's remarkable feat occurred during a hardcore Search and Destroy match on the Lowtown map. They skillfully launched a Ricochet Blade, playfully dubbed a "pizza" by the community, outside the map boundaries. The blade then ricocheted back inside, securing a one-hit kill on an enemy peeking through a window. This clip, shared by Redditor SpawnTubing, may well be the longest Ricochet Blade kill recorded, showcasing kev99gh's precision in lining up the shot from cover and tracking its path on the overhead map.

Such elaborate blade bounce trick shots are not mere luck; they require practice and knowledge of common camping spots, as SpawnTubing noted. The perfect timing of the enemy's peek as the "pizza" returned through the window epitomizes the skill and anticipation inherent in Black Ops 6 gameplay.

The introduction of Ricochet Blades has ignited a new "bounce kill" meta within the game, with various impressive kills being shared across different Multiplayer maps. However, not all players are thrilled. Some find the bouncing blades frustrating and annoying, especially after a recent update by developer Treyarch that buffed the Ricochet Blades' physics and bouncing speeds. The patch notes detail these changes:

D1.3 SectorOur initial design for the D1.3 Sector Ricochet Blades revolved around quickly launching many high-speed blades, meant to perform best blind firing into enclosed spaces. We have been following your feedback and agree that, in practice, the use cases for this ammo type are too low. The Ricochet Blades will now do 100 damage to enable one-hit kills, and to compensate we are lowering the fire rate and projectile speed. We think the popularity of this ammo type will see some new interest with these changes and look forward to seeing more of your cross-map killcams in MP.

Ricochet Blades

  • Increased damage from 75 to 100.
  • Decreased rate of fire.
  • Decreased projectile velocity.
  • Improved bouncing speeds and physics.

With these adjustments, the dominance of Ricochet Blades is poised to grow, especially as Season 3 approaches, bringing with it the much-anticipated return of Verdansk to Warzone.
