This is where the Dual Blades shine, offering a unique blend of speed and versatility. Here's how to master the Dual Blades in *Monster Hunter Wilds* for maximum effectiveness.

Demon Mode/Demon Gauge and Archdemon Mode

The Dual Blades feature a unique Demon Gauge mechanic. Entering Demon Mode boosts attack power, movement speed, and evasion while providing knockback immunity. However, it continuously drains stamina until manually canceled or stamina depletes. Successfully landing attacks in Demon Mode fills the Demon Gauge, leading to Archdemon Mode upon reaching maximum capacity. In Archdemon Mode, the gauge decreases over time and is consumed by certain attacks, enabling even more potent strikes.

Both modes can be toggled seamlessly, and mounting a monster will halt the Demon Gauge's depletion, offering strategic advantages.

Demon Dodge

A successful Perfect Evade triggers Demon Dodge, an empowered state that increases regular and elemental damage and allows attacks during dodges. This grants a 12-second damage buff, and subsequent dodges cause damage while spinning forward.

Combos

The Dual Blades' combos revolve around Demon and Archdemon Modes, allowing for effective chaining of attacks for amplified damage.

Basic Combo

Start with three consecutive Triangle/Y attacks to execute Double Slash, Double Slash Return Stroke, and Circle Slash, delivering consistent damage in various hunting scenarios. Alternatively, use the Circle/B combo for Demon Flurry Rush, Spinning Slash, and Double Roundslash to quickly fill the Demon Gauge.

Demon Mode Basic Combo

In Demon Mode, your basic combo intensifies, starting with Demon Fangs, followed by Twofold Demon Slash, and culminating in Sixfold Demon Slash. Finish with Triangle/Y + Circle/B for Demon Flurry I.

Archdemon Mode Blade Dance Combo

Once the Demon Gauge is full, enter Archdemon Mode for swift, powerful attacks. Begin with Blade Dance (Triangle/Y + Circle/B) in Demon Mode, then press R2/RT four times for Demon Flurry I into Blade Dance II, and conclude with Demon Flurry II and Blade Dance III. This seamless transition between modes delivers significant damage rapidly.

Dual Blade Tips

Mastering the Dual Blades involves fluid transitions between modes, maximizing damage potential.

Always Follow Up

Initiate combat with the basic Demon Flurry Rush combo (Circle/B + Circle/B + Circle/B), then transition into a full Demon or Archdemon Mode combo (three sets of Triangle/Y + Circle/B). This efficiently fills the Demon Gauge and converts it into swift, impactful damage.

Keep Your Stamina Up

Since Demon Mode relies on stamina, maintaining a reserve is crucial. Exit Demon Mode to recover or use Focus Strike on wounded monsters to halt stamina drain while filling the Demon Gauge, preparing you for more aggressive attacks.

Dodging in Between Attacks

With no reliable defense, dodging is your lifeline. The Dual Blades offer exceptional mobility, allowing you to dodge out of most attacks and combos. Avoid overcommitting and wait for optimal attack windows, leveraging the quick animations.

Ensure Sharpness

The relentless attacks of the Dual Blades quickly degrade weapon sharpness. Utilize the Speed Sharpening skill to minimize downtime and swiftly return to combat.

By mastering these techniques, you'll harness the full potential of the Dual Blades in Monster Hunter Wilds. For more tips and guides, be sure to check out The Escapist.
