"Oblivion Remastered Keeps Iconic Line Flub"

Author:Kristen Update:May 15,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered reimagines one of Bethesda's most iconic titles, enhancing it with new visuals, gameplay mechanics, and more. Yet, the team at Virtuos has thoughtfully preserved one of the original's most memorable quirks: the iconic voice line from Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe.

Long-time fans of The Elder Scrolls series will fondly recall Tandilwe, the High Elf found in the Temple of the One in the Imperial City. When Oblivion first launched for PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, it was evident that Tandilwe's voice acting needed some refinement. Her now-famous line is a recording where actress Linda Kenyon appears to be taking another attempt at delivering her dialogue, a blooper that has since become legendary among fans.

As players ventured into the revitalized world of Cyrodiil upon the remaster's release, many were eager to see how faithful the ground-up remaster would be. While the game boasts revamped environments, character models, and items, fans have been delighted to find that many of the original's charming imperfections have been preserved. Tandilwe's hilarious blooper, complete with its lack of subtitles, has returned to the delight of many.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon addressed the infamous blooper, humorously stating, "It wasn't my fault!"

As thousands of players dive into Oblivion Remastered, debates swirl about whether the Bethesda re-release is more of a remake than a remaster. However, many are thrilled to see so much of the original's beloved "jank" preserved. This was a deliberate choice by Bethesda and Virtuos, and it seems to be resonating well with both new and veteran players alike.
