Silent Hill f Reboots Franchise for All Fans: Konami

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 13,2026

Silent Hill f breaks away from the franchise's continuity, offering a self-contained narrative similar to Silent Hill 2. Konami clarifies this isn't a direct sequel but an original story accessible to newcomers.

Konami's official statement on X/Twitter emphasizes this latest horror entry—typically set in an American coastal town—will feature an entirely fresh premise. The publisher notes this standalone approach allows both series veterans and first-time players to enjoy the experience equally.

This structural independence isn't unprecedented for the series. While Silent Hill, Silent Hill 3, and Origins share direct connections, titles like Silent Hill 2 demonstrate the franchise's flexibility. Certain segments of Silent Hill 4: The Room and Homecoming even occur outside the iconic town entirely. The confirmation solidifies that understanding Silent Hill f's 1960s Japan setting requires no prior series knowledge.

Set in 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f follows Shimizu Hinako, a young woman navigating societal pressures. Ryukishi07 (creator of When They Cry) crafts the narrative, marking the series' first Japanese CERO:Z (18+) rating as shown in the March reveal trailer.

While ratings may change during development, the current certification parallels other mature entries. Previous Japanese-developed titles like Silent Hill 2 and 3 received CERO:C (15+), while Western-developed entries typically landed CERO:C/D (15-17+). The international classification remains consistent with Mature (US), PEGI 18 (Europe), and CERO:Z (Japan) ratings.

No release window exists for Silent Hill f, nor updates regarding No Code's parallel project Townfall.
