In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you'll primarily play as the Wanderer on his mission to restore peace to the land. Throughout the main storyline, you'll encounter various choices that shape your journey, and no matter your decisions, you'll often have companions by your side as you charge into battle.

These companions are not just there for show; they stick close to you on the battlefield and can be incredibly powerful. In fact, taking control of them can often be more effective than playing as the upgraded Wanderer. Let's dive into how you can switch characters and make the most of your companions.

How To Switch Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Switching characters in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is only possible during battles where you have a companion with you. Before the battle, during the war council, you'll see an option to select your companion or choose to go it alone. However, you can't switch to a companion if you decide to go solo.

Once the battle kicks off, you'll notice your companion's health bar at the bottom right of the screen, just above your own. Below this, there's a blue bar, similar to your Musou bar, which fills up as you engage in combat. You can boost this bar by:

• Parrying attacks
• Perfect dodging
• Assaulting Officers
• Using Weapon Arts

Virtually any combat action contributes to filling this bar, albeit at a slower pace.

When your companion's blue bar is fully charged, a "Change Character" button will appear next to the bar. To switch characters, press and hold this button for about a second. On Xbox, this is the View Button; on PC, it's the C key; and on PlayStation, it's the Touchpad.

The best time to switch to another character is during a large-scale fight, given the immense power of your companions. You'll only control them for roughly a minute, with the blue bar draining to indicate your remaining time. When you switch characters, they'll leap into battle with a significant attack, so aim at an enemy to maximize impact. Your companion will also have their own Musou and health bars, both fully charged, allowing you to unleash a devastating special attack on your foes.
