Improving Game Stability and Localization

Developer FLINT will remove English dubbing support from ASTRA: Knights of Veda on January 23, 2025. This change, announced January 20th, aims to improve localization quality and game stability. The January 23rd maintenance will also remove support for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Italian. Korean, English (text only), Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Thai, and Russian will remain.

While English text support continues, in-game voiceovers will switch to Japanese for regions outside Korea. This change won't affect players' ability to use any of the removed languages for text chat. FLINT assures players they remain committed to improving the game experience.

Other Gacha Games That Removed English Voiceovers

ASTRA: Knights of Veda isn't alone in removing English voiceovers. Other gacha games, including Square Enix’s War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Yostar Games’ Aether Gazer, and Amazing Seasun Games’ Snowbreak: Containment Zone, have made similar adjustments.

War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius removed English voiceovers from new content starting May 2024, prioritizing Japanese for future updates. Existing content retains English dubbing.

Aether Gazer removed all English voiceovers in February 2024 due to financial constraints, reallocating resources to other game aspects.

Snowbreak: Containment Zone removed English voiceovers in December 2023, citing an evaluation of player preferences and optimization efforts. Japanese voiceovers replaced English starting with Version 1.4.

These decisions highlight a trend towards prioritizing either player language preference or resource allocation. Focusing on the most popular language is logical, and the long-term cost of maintaining English voice acting in gacha games can be substantial.
