Embrace Your Inner Ghoul

Fallout 76's latest update lets you roam Appalachia as a fully-fledged Ghoul. Launched March 18th, "The Ghoul Within" introduces ghoul-themed features, mechanics, and cosmetics to revamp your C.A.M.P.

This update introduces Ghoulification, achieved through the "Leap of Faith" questline. This journey takes you to a new area of the Savage Divide, where you'll meet characters aiding your transformation. Becoming a Ghoul unlocks exclusive abilities – Glow and Feral – and access to 30 unique perks ("Gherks").

The Feral ability replaces hunger and thirst, offering stat boosts based on your Feral meter. However, depleting it to 0% unleashes significant gameplay changes: +150% Melee Damage, but at the cost of -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, and -300% Hip-fire and V.A.T.S. accuracy. It's a high-risk, high-reward gamble!

The Glow ability lets you consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and—as the name suggests—making you glow. It also boosts maximum health, heals damage, and contributes to Gherks.

Choose from 28 unique perks and 2 new legendary perks designed specifically for Ghouls. Note that perks related to hunger, thirst, and chem resistance are unavailable, as Ghouls don't need them.

Life as a Ghoul

Ghoulification simplifies exploration of the irradiated wasteland, thanks to your new abilities and perks. However, factions like the Brotherhood of Steel become hostile, potentially restricting access to certain questlines.

Fortunately, a new NPC, Jaye, provides disguises allowing you to bypass these restrictions. If the ghoul life isn't for you, you can revert to human form via the Character Screen. This is a one-way trip; the "Leap of Faith" questline can't be repeated. Instead, Ghoul retransformation costs 1000 Atoms.

Level 50 Character Boost and Patch Notes

New and veteran players can now utilize the Level 50 Character Boost (1500 Atoms) for a head start. This provides significant boosts and perks, enabling immediate access to Daily Ops, Public Events, and story content.

Season 20 also includes bug fixes, balance adjustments (accessibility improvements, combat balancing, weapon damage changes, etc.), and sets the stage for the upcoming "The Big Bloom" update on April 29th.
