Fortnite Update Sparks UI Backlash

Fortnite's Revamped Quest UI Faces Backlash

Epic Games' recent Fortnite update, introducing a redesigned quest UI and new pickaxe options, has sparked a mixed reaction from the community. While the Chapter 6 Season 1 update, featuring a new map, improved movement, and fresh game modes like Ballistic and LEGO Fortnite: Brick Life, has been largely well-received, the quest UI overhaul has proven controversial.

The January 14th update replaced the linear quest list with collapsible blocks and submenus. While some players appreciate the cleaner visual appearance, many find the new structure excessively cumbersome and time-consuming, particularly during matches where quick access to quests is crucial. The increased navigation time within the menus, players report, has directly contributed to in-game deaths, especially while tackling the new Godzilla quests. This contrasts with previous iterations where quests were readily accessible in a single list.

Previously, accessing quests for different modes necessitated switching between them in the lobby – a point of frustration for many. The new UI, while aiming to address this, has inadvertently introduced a more significant problem: excessive menu navigation during gameplay.

Despite this negative feedback regarding the quest UI, the addition of Festival instruments as pickaxes and back blings has been widely praised, expanding cosmetic customization options. Overall, while the quest UI redesign remains a point of contention, the broader update and other additions have maintained a largely positive reception among Fortnite players.
