Tripwire Interactive announced a significant delay for Killing Floor 3 (KF3), pushing the release date from March 25th, 2025 to an unspecified time later in the year. This decision follows a closed beta test that received overwhelmingly negative feedback.

Disappointing Beta Leads to Delay

The announcement, made on March 7th, 2025 via Tripwire's official Bluesky account, cited widespread issues uncovered during the beta. The developer acknowledged falling short of expectations, stating their commitment to delivering a game that both innovates and stays true to the core Killing Floor experience. Specific concerns highlighted included performance, stability, user interface/experience (UI/UX), lighting, and weapon feel.

Online reaction to the beta was largely critical. Players described the build as "insanely clunky and clumsy," an "unpolished, glitch-ridden, vomit-inducing wreck," and criticized the departure from the series' horror roots in favor of a more futuristic sci-fi aesthetic. Concerns were also raised about the character and class selection system in the beta, which locked classes to specific characters. One Reddit user, Captain_Pugman, poignantly questioned whether the developers had forgotten what made the Killing Floor series special.

Tripwire concluded their announcement by expressing gratitude for player support and promising a more polished version of KF3. They assured fans they would be the first to know when more details are available.

Pre-Order Refunds

Tripwire's Senior Community Manager, Yoshiro, outlined the pre-order refund process. Automatic cancellations and refunds will be processed for PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic Games Store pre-orders. However, US PlayStation users will have the option to retain their pre-order. Steam pre-orders require manual refunds through the Steam support system. Refunds for other platforms will be handled according to individual vendor policies.
