Monster Hunter Wilds Adds Real-Money Purchases

Author:Kristen Update:Jun 24,2025

Capcom has introduced a new customization feature in *Monster Hunter Wilds* that allows players to edit their hunter and Palico appearances. While the first edit is offered free of charge, any subsequent changes require the purchase of Character Edit Vouchers. These vouchers are sold in packs of three for $6, or as a combined set covering both hunter and Palico for $10. Without these vouchers, players are limited to adjusting elements such as hairstyles, eyebrow color, makeup, and clothing—core facial features remain locked.

Notably, this monetization model was not mentioned during early previews of the game prior to its full release. The system was officially announced last week through Capcom’s social media channels. Despite community backlash over microtransactions and reported performance issues, *Monster Hunter Wilds* achieved impressive launch numbers, reaching over 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam.

As of now, Capcom has not responded to player concerns regarding this paid customization system. Fans have expressed frustration, criticizing the move as a step back from previous titles where appearance edits were either free or obtainable using in-game currency. Many within the community feel that locking core customization behind a paywall detracts from what was once seen as a fundamental and accessible feature of the *Monster Hunter* experience.
