Build A Rocket Boy, the team behind MindsEye, has urged fans to hold off playing until the official release after some accessed physical copies a week early and shared their feedback online.

X user @MrHazel88 shared an image of a MindsEye physical copy, later posting critical remarks, describing the game as a “technical mess.”

MindsEye is set to launch on June 10, meaning early copies surfaced a week ahead. Build A Rocket Boy responded via social media, asking players to avoid sharing spoilers and confirming a day-one patch to enhance the experience for all players.

This “significant” patch for physical MindsEye copies, according to Build A Rocket Boy, will roll out at launch, delivering “critical enhancements to ensure the game performs as envisioned and showcases characters at their finest.”

Regarding spoilers, Build A Rocket Boy emphasized that MindsEye is “crafted around surprises and emotional highs.”

“We want players to dive into the story together on launch day, unspoiled,” the studio added. “This means waiting for the official release to experience it firsthand.”

MindsEye’s launch is heating up, but the early access and negative feedback mark the latest hurdles for Build A Rocket Boy during development.

Last week, co-CEO Mark Gerhard alleged a “coordinated effort” to “undermine the game and studio,” even claiming some negative comments stem from paid efforts or spam bots, as stated on the official MindsEye Discord, prompting surprised reactions from fans.

Days before the launch, Build A Rocket Boy’s Chief Legal Officer and Chief Financial Officer announced their departure, raising concerns within the studio’s growing community.

Play

MindsEye launches June 10, 2025, on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, blending elements of Grand Theft Auto, Watch Dogs, Cyberpunk, and a user-generated content feature dubbed “AAA Minecraft.”

Priced at $59.99, MindsEye offers a “focused linear story campaign” and “single-player free roam” at launch, alongside missions like the horde mode “Destruction Site Shootout,” combat missions “Honor Amongst Thieves” and “Friendly Fire,” six races, six checkpoint races, and three drone races. The premium pass includes an additional horde mode mission and an exotic cosmetics pack.

Post-launch, Build A Rocket Boy plans a “steady flow” of premium content monthly, “keeping MindsEye a dynamic, ever-evolving player experience.” This includes new missions, challenges, and assets. “Combining studio-crafted updates with top-tier community creations, MindsEye will captivate players for years,” the studio noted.

Build A Rocket Boy also outlined its 2025 content roadmap: summer brings community updates and new missions, fall introduces new single-player modes, multiplayer, and missions, while winter delivers free roam updates and more missions. Premium pass holders gain extra missions and packs throughout.
