Bethesda Surprises Fans with Starfield Patch Amid Oblivion Remastered Excitement

Author:Kristen Update:May 30,2025

As anticipation builds for the highly anticipated *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered*, Bethesda has delivered an unexpected treat for *Starfield* players. A surprise patch has introduced ‘Very Low’ display settings to optimize performance on lower-end devices, along with enhanced support for Creations (mods), and numerous bug fixes across quests, vehicles, the user interface, and the Shattered Space DLC.

The update is currently live on Steam’s beta branch, available for PC players who wish to opt in. In a recent post on their website, Bethesda requested player feedback and released detailed patch notes. While this update focuses primarily on feature additions and bug corrections, *Starfield* enthusiasts are still eagerly awaiting word on future DLC plans.

Launched in September 2023, *Starfield* marked Bethesda’s first wholly original IP in 25 years. Despite reaching 15 million players, the game received mixed reviews compared to its predecessors in the *Elder Scrolls* and *Fallout* series. The *Shattered Space* expansion, released in September 2024, holds a ‘mostly negative’ user rating on Steam. In response to player dissatisfaction, Bethesda reiterated its commitment to supporting the game, promising at least one additional story expansion following *Shattered Space*. During a conversation with *MrMattyPlays* on YouTube, Todd Howard confirmed plans for an annual story expansion moving forward.

Recent developments have fueled speculation about a potential PS5 release for *Starfield*. Fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda’s Creations website, linked to a work-in-progress ship decal for the game. Although the asset was removed, curiosity remains high among the community. Meanwhile, players anticipate big announcements during Microsoft and Bethesda’s upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, where rumors suggest the possibility of revealing the PS5 version alongside new DLC.
