In a February 7, 2025 Discord post, inZOI game director Hyungjun Kim unveiled a Karma system. This system will determine the fate of deceased Zois, transforming them into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points. Kim describes a fascinating afterlife mechanic: Zois with sufficient karma peacefully move on, while those with insufficient karma linger as ghosts until they atone and accumulate enough points. The exact methods for restoring karma remain undisclosed.

Kim emphasized a balanced approach to ghost interactions, stating that they aim to keep ghost gameplay limited to avoid overshadowing the core experience, while still making encounters engaging. Currently, in the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois are restricted to specific times and conditions.

Kim also expressed a desire to explore more fantasy elements in the future, acknowledging the game's focus on realism. He believes that adding these elements could enhance the overall experience of simulating life’s complexities.

A Glimpse into inZOI's Karma Interactions

A sponsored video by MadMorph in August 2024 offered a brief preview of inZOI's Karma system. Around the fifteen-minute mark, MadMorph showcased "Karma Interactions," a feature offering various actions that impact a Zoi's Karma score. The video showed examples of actions that decrease Karma (like a rather impolite flatulence incident), hinting at the possibility of positive actions like "Throw Away Trash" or "Like a Friend’s Post," though these weren't demonstrated.

While Kim confirmed that the Early Access release focuses on the living Zois experience, the Karma system and its interactions will play a more significant role in future updates. For those eager to experience inZOI, the Early Access launch on Steam is scheduled for March 28, 2025—less than six weeks away!
