Pokémon TCG Pocket developer, Creatures Inc., has issued 1,000 Trade Tokens to players – enough for only two substantial trades – while continuing to address issues with the controversial trading mechanic.
Players logging in will find these tokens in their Gift menu without explanation. However, Creatures Inc. acknowledged player feedback and expressed gratitude for their patience via a post on X/Twitter. The developer faced significant criticism last week, with accusations of being "hilariously toxic," "predatory," and "downright greedy" following the trading feature's launch.
The trading system, alongside existing limitations on pack openings and Wonder Picking, introduced Trade Tokens as an additional restriction. Players heavily criticized the high cost of acquiring these tokens, requiring the deletion of five cards to trade one of similar rarity.

Over a week after the release, the negative player response continues. Creatures Inc. had previously acknowledged player concerns, stating they would welcome feedback after launch. This led many to believe the system would be more user-friendly, which proved untrue. Creatures Inc. subsequently admitted that restrictions hindered casual enjoyment of the trading feature.
The developer promised to address concerns by offering necessary items as event rewards. However, the Cresselia ex Drop Event (February 3rd) failed to deliver on this promise.
Many believe the trading implementation primarily aims to boost revenue for Pokémon TCG Pocket, which reportedly generated $200 million in its first month, pre-trading. This is further supported by the inability to trade 2-Star rarity cards or higher. Allowing immediate trades for missing cards would reduce the need for players to spend significant sums ($10, $100, or more) on packs for a chance at obtaining them. One player reported spending approximately $1,500 to complete the first set, with the third set launching just last week.
