REPO's Overcharge and Difficulty Scaling are Getting Major Tweaks, Says Developer

Exciting changes are on the horizon for REPO as the developers at Semiwork prepare to refine the game's difficulty scaling and Overcharge mechanic. Dive into the details of the upcoming updates and learn about the insights gained from the open beta.

REPO Development Updates

Overcharge Overhaul

During REPO's recent open beta, the game's Overcharge mechanic caught the attention of developer Semiwork, sparking significant updates based on fan feedback.

The Overcharge feature enables players to counter opponents by lifting and hurling them onto hard surfaces or away from their teammates. However, this action is regulated by an overcharge meter; once it's full, the player risks exploding. Initially introduced at the game's start, Overcharge will now unlock at level 10.

To enhance the gameplay experience, Semiwork plans to introduce new mechanics every 10 levels, starting with Overcharge at level 10, followed by new challenges at levels 20, 30, and beyond. These updates will not only increase difficulty but also enrich the game's lore. As Semiwork explains, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."

In an effort to gather direct player feedback, developers from Semiwork participated incognito in random matches during the open beta. Pontus Sundstrom, a developer at Semiwork, expressed his satisfaction with the community's engagement, saying, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." He further noted, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."

With valuable insights from the open beta, Semiwork is committed to continuously improving REPO. Players can anticipate more exciting updates as the developers promise to keep the community informed. Stay tuned for the latest on R.E.P.O. by checking out our article below!
