inZOI developer confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from the game. Over the past 24 hours, multiple reports surfaced indicating that the Creative Studio mode demo had included the anti-tamper software. The use of Denuvo in games has long been a contentious issue, with numerous sources highlighting its potential negative impact on performance.
This DRM and anti-tamper system is designed to prevent unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, making it harder for pirated versions to be released.
In a recent Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim responded to these concerns, stating that the Early Access build, scheduled for release on Friday, will be free of DRM. "We initially decided to implement Denuvo to protect the game from illegal distribution. At the time, we believed this would help ensure fairness for players who purchased the game legally. However, after carefully reviewing community feedback, we quickly realized this approach did not match what our players truly wanted," Kjun explained.
He also apologized for not notifying players in advance that Denuvo would be included in the Creative Studio mode. Kjun acknowledged that removing DRM may increase the risk of the game being cracked and distributed illegally, but emphasized that it will allow inZOI to remain fully customizable, empowering players to design and shape their own experiences. "We believe that granting this level of freedom from the start will foster innovation and create lasting enjoyment for our community."
inZOI has emphasized the importance of modding in the game’s design, which is why the inclusion of Denuvo surprised many players, as it can hinder mod creation and integration.
Kjun reiterated, "As I mentioned during the Online Showcase, we are fully committed to building inZOI as a highly moddable game. Our first official mod support release is set for May, enabling players to use tools such as Maya and Blender to create custom content. But this is just the beginning. Over time, we plan to expand mod support across more aspects of the game, so you can personalize and enhance your experience in countless ways."
He also announced a follow-up post with additional details on modding. Krafton remains dedicated to putting players first, actively listening to community feedback and making thoughtful adjustments to deliver a high-quality experience.
inZOI is scheduled for Early Access release on March 28, 2025, on PC. The full launch will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. As of now, the exact date for the full release remains unannounced.
