Author:Kristen Update:May 16,2025

The highly anticipated single-player action game, Lost Soul Aside, has faced a delay, pushing its release from May 30 to August 29, 2025. After a decade of development, the game, which was set to launch on PC and PlayStation 5 next month, will now be released three months later to allow for additional polish, as announced by developer Ultizero Games.

"We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," Ultizero Games stated. "We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."

Originally a passion project of solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved into a significant title under Sony's China Hero Project. Bing, now the founder and CEO of the Shanghai-based studio Ultizero Games, has led the game from its initial concept to becoming a major Sony-published title. The journey of Lost Soul Aside has been marked by significant milestones, including a viral reveal video in 2016 and a trailer showcase at Sony's State of Play broadcast.

The game has generated considerable excitement, with many praising it for blending the character design of Final Fantasy with the dynamic combat of Devil May Cry. The protagonist, Kesar, uses a versatile shape-shifting weapon that allows players to switch playstyles, accompanied by a dragon-like companion named Arena who enhances Kesar's abilities.

Lost Soul Aside draws inspiration from its predecessors, emphasizing aerial dodging, precision timing, and intricate combos, all while engaging players in large-scale boss fights. The game's narrative spans multiple dimensions, combining sci-fi elements with contemporary aesthetics. Though the trailers leave much of the story to the imagination, Yang Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."

IGN recently had the privilege of interviewing Yang Bing, discussing the extensive development process and the evolution of Lost Soul Aside from a solo vision to a highly anticipated release.
