"Bloodborne PC Emulation Achieves Near-Stable 60 FPS"

Digital Foundry reviewer Thomas Morgan conducted a thorough evaluation of Bloodborne on the ShadPS4 emulator, focusing on the game's performance and the technical enhancements contributed by modders. For his testing, Morgan utilized the ShadPS4 0.5.1 build by diegolix29, which is based on a custom branch developed by raphaelthegreat. This specific build delivered the best performance on a PC equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X processor and a GeForce RTX 4080 GPU.

Morgan suggested the installation of the Vertex Explosion Fix mod to address visual glitches that manifested as stretched or misplaced polygons. Although this mod disables facial customization at the start of the game, it effectively eliminates these visual issues. Notably, no other essential mods are necessary, as the emulator itself includes a comprehensive menu for managing enhancements. This menu allows users to enable 60 fps support, upscale the resolution to 4K, and disable chromatic aberration, among other options.

Despite occasional stuttering, Morgan reported that Bloodborne generally maintained a smooth 60 fps. He also experimented with higher resolutions, specifically 1440p and 1800p, where he observed a significant improvement in image detail. However, these higher resolutions led to decreased performance and frequent crashes. Consequently, Morgan advises running Bloodborne on ShadPS4 at either 1080p, akin to the original PS4 experience, or at 1152p for a balanced performance and visual quality.

Morgan praised the ShadPS4 team's remarkable achievement in making PS4 emulation feasible. He concluded that while Bloodborne performs impressively on the emulator, some technical challenges persist.
